Hi, I’m Bobak Radbin, a filmmaker and photographer based in Colorado Springs. I specialize in elopements, engagements, family, and personal branding sessions, and I’m always ready for destination projects. Recently, I embarked on a one-night backpacking trip to the Missouri and Fancy Lakes Loop in Colorado with my trusty dog, Aspen. It was a trip filled with breathtaking views, challenging trails, and unforgettable memories.
The Journey
We set out on a trail that promised both beauty and difficulty. The hike spanned about 8.5 miles and included a 2,600-foot elevation gain. With stops to take in the scenery and rest, the entire hike took us around seven hours to complete.
Trail Highlights
The trail was absolutely stunning. From vibrant wildflowers to scenic lakes, every turn offered something new. We encountered plenty of wildlife, including marmots, which added to the adventure. Aspen, of course, loved every minute of it, especially the opportunities to splash in the water.
Challenges and Triumphs
One of the most challenging parts of the hike was reaching the summit. The elevation gain was tough, and there were a few sections still covered in snow, making the trek a bit precarious. However, the views from the top made it all worthwhile. The sense of accomplishment was immense.
Camping Experience
Spending the night in the wilderness was serene. Although campfires were not allowed, the peacefulness of the surroundings and the clear night sky provided a perfect backdrop for a restful night. Aspen and I were well-prepared, carrying all the essentials in our 20-pound backpack, including a food tent to keep our supplies safe.
Capturing the Adventure
I documented the entire trip using my new Insta360 X3 camera. This camera is fantastic for capturing the full experience, providing immersive footage that truly brings the adventure to life. I’m excited to create more travel content with this amazing piece of gear.
Final Thoughts
This one-night backpacking trip to Missouri and Fancy Lakes Loop was an incredible experience. It was physically demanding but equally rewarding. The trail’s natural beauty and the bond with Aspen made it a journey to remember. I can’t wait for our next adventure!
